Source: Online Burma Library March 1, 2008: The Burmese military regime State Peace and Development Council on 26th February 2008 released its "The Referendum Law for the Approval of the Draft Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myamar, 2008" slated for May 2008. Excerpt: .......Every citizen, associate citizen, naturalized citizen, and temporary certificate holder who has completed the age of eighteen years on the day of referendum shall have the right to vote at the referendum. Every person who is so entitled to vote shall be mentioned in the voting roll.

The Telegraph - February 5, 2008 Tripartite talks between a few tribal militant groups of Manipur, the State Government and the Centre bagan yesterday in New Delhi, to frame ceasefire ground rules. Announcing this in the assembly today, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh described the tripartite talks as the first step tpwards bringing a solution to the militancy in the state.
