Kukforum representative exclusive interview with Ms. Manoranjana Singh is given below:
 
Kukiforum: Madam, would you please tell us about the genesis of North East Television (NETV)?
 
Manoranjana Singh: Northeast India, with its varied cultures, customs and colorful diversities, have attracted me and I find no difference from that of Sikkim. Having worked for journalism for the past many years and been brought up in Delhi, I have no inclination to remain over there, instead embedded and married to northeasterners - their genius talents and gifts through the NET anchor. You know what; I find myself in the midst of ‘Jewels of wealth’ that no other in mainland India had ever known before.

Kukiforum: Would you please let us know about your family background?
 
Manoranjana Singh: I am a married woman. My husband and I own this NETV complex. My parents live in Delhi. My Dad was once a reporter for “The Economic Times of India.” One of my brothers resides in Los Angeles, California (USA). Our family members, most of us, took a career in journalism and we enjoy doing it.
 
Kukiforum: What were the major obstacles when you started airing NETV?
 
Manoranjana Singh: The main and single obstacle was the Indian Government in giving permission to start NETV. You know, it took me six years to fight for the birth of a regional television network. The Central Government had the notion that my idea of having exclusive NETV with distinct diversities in the region was a utopian dream, and they presumed that I would utterly fail and flop. Yet, to my utter surprise and contrary to the negative impression of the Indian Government, the NETV successfully have already aired in eighteen different languages. The responses are very encouraging and I find myself the most exciting person and enjoy every bit of my daily job.
 
Kukiforum: Madam, would you kindly single out one main objective of NETV?
 
Manoranjana Singh: I always tell to people who asked the same question and I will do the same. In NETV, our main objective is to bridge the northeasterners with mainland India by airing everyday information to the language understandable to every northeasterners. We all know that Hindi, English, Assamese, Manipuri or Bengalese would not reach certain proportion of the northeast population.
 
Kukiforum: As a managing director of NETV, how many hours do you take to sleep?

Manoranjana Singh: I take only three hours to sleep. As you see, our works revolve around twenty four hours, which means it needs constant vigil.
